Savasana

Anyone else here practice yoga?

I’ve just started a few weeks ago and have had some pretty mind blowing experiences so far…apart from lots of energetic shifting and alignment going on have had quiet a few out of body experiences especially during Savasana or Corpse pose which finishes each session.

Just wondering if anyone here who does yoga has experienced this? ..what can only be described as a purely natural psychedelic experience.

I don't practice, but my sister is an instructor, and she
has made many claims such as you have described. Very Cool. Well done. :D

i used to do yoga regularly in the 80s...
first hatha yoga, postures, for approx 30 mins, then 30 mins "deep relaxation" (corpse pose) while listening to a tape visualizing things.
Basically, I had more out of body experiences, then with drugs, ever.
but yoga is hard work, and most postures are very hard to impossible, if one is overweight.

The first time I did it it really spun me out as I wasn't expecting anything like that to happen...after an 1hr & 10 of postures then getting in corpse pose after a few minutes I completly dissovled into the floor and was zapped out of the room to what felt like some kinda intermediate place for maybe a minute or two then shot back into my body not knowing where I was then zapped back out of my body to be looking down on my self lying on the floor then back into the intermediate place again for awhile then shot back to my body again then they turned the lights back on and I had to take a moment or two to work out where the hell I was...then walked out of the room high as a kite for the rest of the evening.

Still not quiet sure what to make of it all.

Since then have started practicing twice a week and had similar experiences each time in savasana crazy stuff can't wait to see what sort of places I end up travelling in 6months or 1yr down the track.

Nice one Birdy. That doesn't happen very often...says alot about your state of mind :)

I've let my yoga practice slide - although i'm back into meditation again and occassionally experience similar stuff.
keep us posted...it would be interesting to hear how this progresses

I also practice meditation twice a day morning and evening which I have been doing for a year now and have had some pretty amazing and transformative experiences with that and I think doing this has maybe accelerated the process a little cause as soon as I started doing Yoga it's like everything has kicked up a notch. Even in meditation I have been having more experiences. The other day during group meditation I had the an experience where I was in three places at once….In my body and there was a version of myself sitting directly across from me also in meditation aswell as being a consciousness without a body seeing both of these versions of the self from the right hand side and being able to see from these 3 places all at once and not really knowing which form I was meant to be.

That's excellent mate. Well done indeed.
Would you be able to share with us your meditation technique and process Birdy?

I started a thread called "Meditation Techniques" in the Spirituality forum,

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3367

Fell free to post in here or there, doesn't matter, but would love to hear more.

I think you already know, but your(we're) not meant to be
anything other than what you are being right now. :D

We are human beings as opposed to human doings.

Nice one Birdy. :lostit:

Yeh your right....sometimes tho you get so far out there that it's like this realm doesn't exist especially during the longer group sessions and I was feeling completly comfortable in either one of those forms even the bodyless consciousness form.

Ginganinja wrote:Just out of curiosity bridwing, how long do you meditate for each session morning and night?

Morning meditation I usually do between 15-25 minutes depending on how much time I got before I've got to scoot out the door and and around 20-30mins in the evening but sometimes go longer if I'm really in the zone.
